Saree-Wrapped Kaisa Table Baskets – Set of 2. Assorted Colours

A colourful set of two rectangular table baskets handmade from kaisa grass and completely wrapped in upcycled saree fabric.

Fair Trade artisans in the Rangpur region of northern Bangladesh gather dried kaisa into bundles then coil the strands to form each basket. The coils are bound together then fully wrapped in strips of colourful saree fabric, giving each basket its own individual pattern and character.

Kaisa is a sustainable wild grass that grows naturally along the riverbanks of Bangladesh. Once dried, it changes from a light green to a soft pale tan and has long been used in traditional Bangladeshi basket-making.

Ideal for storing keys, coins, jewellery, craft supplies or other small odds and ends.

As upcycled saree fabric is used, colours and patterns will vary.
