This eight piece, rather unique nativity set, is made using the traditional skills of Peruvian artisans. Making clay, moulding and shaping, kiln firing, and then each piece is individually handpainted to the detail that you can see. Phew - that took ages just to write!
The set is handmade in the highland Ayachucho area of Peru - we mean high! - officially 2761m (9058ft) up in the beautiful Andes.

Nativity, it's one of the most recognizable symbols of the festive and Christmas season. This traditional ceramic set is made by Fair Trade artisans in Peru and represents the Nativity of Jesus. Often referred to as "The Nativity".
Records show that the first nativity scene was created by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1223. You'll probably see one this Christmas season.
Nativities vary in that they incorporate different elements, so using these pieces you could create your own diorama or representation of The Nativity.
