Our gorgeous Dabu natural cotton tablecloth features swirling currents of ocean blues contained within a border of a traditional Indian motif.
Dabu is a traditional block printing technique. Like Gamthi, Dabu uses hand-carved wooden blocks to hand "stamp" a pattern upon cloth.
Dabu is similar in intent to the more familiar Batik, though it uses a resist-paste of clays, vegetable gum and powdered wheat chaff to block areas where the artist does not want colour.
The cloth is then dyed to its lightest shade, left to dry and then the process repeated until the design and depth of colour is achieved.
